Leveraging Affirmations/Leadership Themes to Influence Mindsets and Team Culture

This module aims to understand how affirmations/leadership themes can be leveraged to create a more positive and resilient mindset with individual team members and shape/reshape a team culture. There is also a discussion on properly balancing one’s focus between leadership and management. Lastly, there is a discussion on building out a complete management and leadership “game plan”.  In this discussion, there is a focus on the exact steps to take and the proper order in which to take them in order to build high-performing teams consistently.

Session 8 Learning Activities:

  1. Group discussion: on affirmations – what are they, how/why do they work, and how can they be leveraged to have influence?

  2. Individual analysis and assessment: of affirmations/leadership themes that can be used to have the greatest benefit on my team

  3. Group discussion: on team culture – what is it, where does it have influence, and how is it formed

  4. Group discussion: regarding examples of how leaders have shifted or developed a team culture

Session 8 Work Assignments:

  • Creating and Updating my Start, Stop, and Continue Plan

Create additional refinements to the “start”, “stop”, and “continue” Based on the personal insights gained and the individual presentations. In the second half of the class, participants add to their implementation plan. 

  • What they intend to start doing (for themselves as a manager/leader, for their team as a whole, and for the Individuals on their team)

  • What do they intend to stop doing (for themselves as a manager/leader, for their team as a whole, and for the Individuals on their team)

  • What they intend to continue doing (for themselves as a manager/leader, for their team as a whole, and for the Individuals on their team)

  • Write a minimum of 200 words on: How have the group discussions, presentations and things you have learned through the course influenced your perspective on each of the five don’ts?
