Unleashing Employee Potential:
Harnessing High-Payoff Activities, Job Crafting &
Optimisation for Breakthrough Performance
This comprehensive session focuses on High Payoff Activities (HPA’s) principles, Job Crafting and Optimisation, and workplace innovation. We dive into our unique MQ workplace innovation process and the critical role of Leadership in managing and monitoring performance. Emphasising the need to adopt a proactive and creative approach, we underline the importance of individuals improving job satisfaction, driving organizational success, and contributing to national economic health.
Our process begins with Job Crafting, introduced by Amy Wisniewski and Jane Dutton and subsequently developed by Professors Colin Lindsay, Dr Patricia Findlay, and Dr Nicola Murray. This process is crucial in the current work environment, with an increased focus on employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention.
We highlight the importance of identifying High-Payoff Activities (HPAs) within each role – tasks that take longer than 30 to 45 minutes to complete and add substantial value to your business, role, or function. The focus then shifts to identifying job challenges, tasks that add value to your job, business or personal growth, and undertaking and conquering them.
The final stage is Job Optimisation, which involves running all daily tasks through a Job Optimisation Funnel, where employees ask if they can eliminate, automate or delegate each task. This optimization process allows for better aligning interests, values, and skills with daily duties and responsibilities, enhancing job satisfaction and productivity.
We conclude by discussing the benefits of embracing workplace innovation and job crafting, such as enhanced employee engagement, better retention, increased innovation, improved well-being, and optimal use of skills. We also touch upon the potential negative implications of neglecting these practices.
Innovation and job crafting lead to individual prosperity, business success, reduced turnover, fostering family cohesion and work-life balance, and enhancing local economies. By finalizing your job crafting and workplace innovation process, you set the foundation for creating the perfect working day and taking your business to a new level of employee engagement, productivity, and innovation.
