Exercise 7: Goals Setting & Defining

Goal Setting: The What, Why and How Plan

Here are some example goals that you could set for your team or employees (If you don’t have a team use the same concept to set new goals for the business):

  1. Resource-based goal:

“Define the resources I need for my next period of growth, define the role and responsibilities for the roles and recruit the resource in the next two months.”

  1. Systems based goal

“In the next month, define the marketing system, document it and create an improvement plan.”

  1. Process-based goal

“In the next month, define and create process maps for all our sales processes.”

  1. Stretch goal

“Our team will generate 20% more sales and complete projects 10% faster in the next six months “5.

       5. Commit Goal

“Set goals that your employee can achieve and deliver without fail” These goals help build motivation across the team.

This is your FOURTH attempt at setting a goal from the BGA programme; using the format above, let’s start setting goals for you and your business.

The following What-Why-How Plan exercise will consist of setting a goal for your team based on the above criteria, use this to set a goal for the next 12 months and should be a different goal from last month’s goal process.
